Essaouira is around 190 km (about 3 hours) from Marrakech by road, and also reachable from Agadir and Casablanca. It has a small airport with seasonal flights. Once there, the medina is entirely walkable and pedestrian-friendly — one of its great pleasures — so you will not need transport within the old town. A private car and driver is the most comfortable way to arrive and to stop at the argan cooperatives en route.
Essaouira is a pleasant year-round destination, but spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) offer the best balance of warm weather and slightly calmer winds for sightseeing.
